Support for International Students
iSPACE is a lounge dedicated to the needs of international students and the promotion of cultural diversity on campus. iSpace is a service that my international friends and I took advantage of for information sessions, guidance, and social events for other exchange students.
The iSPACE team run workshops and provide lots of useful information to help you adjust to life at The University of Auckland and in New Zealand. They also host a range of fun activities, such as morning teas and cultural events. During Orientation they organize wine tasting, ethnic food and games evenings.
Check out this link for more information on iSpace and how this service can make your exchange experience comfortable and enjoyable.

Where to Live?
I remember when I was preparing to embark on my study abroad experience, I was debating about where to live. Do I want a large residence hall full of new students and international students like me? A self-catered apartment? Or is off-campus housing more my style? After much research and debate, I went with the self-catered apartment, and it was one of the best decisions I've made regarding my exchange experience.
The University of Auckland offers many accommodation options. The University has 5 catered residence halls and 4 self-catered apartments. There's something for everyone!

Parnell Student Village
Walk to Uni through the Domain
While there are many appealing accommodation options at the University, I have to focus on Parnell Student Village, the residence I stayed in (and the best one!).
Parnell Student Village (PSV) is located in the nearby trendy suburb of Parnell and on grounds adjacent to the beautiful Auckland Domain and the Auckland Museum.
Parnell Student Village consists of 2-storey and 3-storey timber clad buildings, all housing 17 full-furnished apartments each with their own bathroom. There are four four-bedroom, 11 five-bedroom, 2 six-bedroom and 1 eight bedroom apartments available.
It is is a 20 minute walk to the Grafton and City Campuses and there is ample public transport options available. However, I always walked to Uni. The walk through the Domain, a beautiful green park, was always my favourite part of the day. I often spent time there hanging out with friends, drawing the beautiful lush surroundings, or sitting on a bench and watching passersby.
Even though PSV isn't very close to Queen Street or the bars and clubs downtown, we often walked together to go out and enjoy Auckland's nightlife. When we weren't in the mood to make the trek downtown, we ended up spending our nights in one of the PSV flats, or socializing in our stunning backyard, complete with a barbecue, picnic tables, and a volleyball court.
